House lawmakers will not take up any controversial bills today so that members can attend funeral services for the father of state Rep. Dan Cooper, R-Anderson, chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee.
Cooper's father, M.J. "Dolly" Cooper, 88, died Saturday.
The senior Cooper was a former house member. He was first elected to the House in 1974 and served for 16 years.
On Wednesday and Thursday, House lawmakers will tackle contentious bills, including one to create a three-day window for early voting and another reforming the state's Employment Security Commission.
