Rex will decide next fall if he will run for governor
State Superintendent of Education Jim Rex says he'll decide whether to run for governor next fall. Rex told The State newspaper Wednesday he's delaying the decision because he wants to stay focused on his current job and he also wants to see how Democratic candidates fare at the state and national level in November.
Rex is one of several Democrats considering a run. Others include state Rep. James Smith of Columbia, former state Superintendent of Education Inez Tenenbaum and former S.C. Democratic Party Chairman Joe Erwin of Greenville.

Jim might be a fine governor. The only thing wrong with his potential candidacy is that he ran for supt. on his assurances that he wasn't seeking higher office...just an educator.

I think that Jim rex should run for Governor. I heard him speak at an Ed Tech conference and he is a great speaker and is determined to change the SC Education sector to a higher level of standards. I would vote for him and campaign for him to win the election of governorship.
Go for it Mr. J. Rex!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All we need is to have another damnyankee telling us how we should live. Arrogance builds on itself, fueled by self-rightness.
Rex needs to take a permanent vacation, up north.

Fresh news and misspelling. And people ask what is wrong with the new media, lack of literancy seems to be one problem, along with a decided lack of reportorial skills and intelligence.

I will tell you whats wrong and why no one can spell! the school's today don't teach grammar in high school anymore, because they think they have learned all the grammar they need by the end of eight grade, and English/grammar as turned into literature in high school.

Fair well? This is what happens when you rely on spell check instead of good, old-fashioned editing.

I really hope that James Smith does run! This is the first I've heard of it, but I think he would be a great governor.
I like Jim Rex just fine, but I think he's really needed where he is right now.

Actually REX would have less power and could do much less harm. Okay I am on board, let's promote him out of SCDOE.

At the time of this writing, four people or 40% of the commentators have commented on the mispelled word, "fare". This is used correctly as a verb meaning to experience good or bad fortune. The word "fair" to which several people alluded to can be used as a verb, but has an entirely different meaning.
