Republican National Convention organizers Thursday night chose an inspired piece of music to follow a stemwinder about vice presidential nominee, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.
After Utah Gov. John Huntsman sang Palin's praises, Heart's "Barracuda" kicked into high gear.
Sarah Barracuda is what Palin's friends nicknamed her in gradeschool.
Later, the choices of "Footloose" and "Centerfield" seemed less appropriate for their moment.

Heart asked the RNC to stop using their song "Barracuda." Obviously they were appalled at being associated with Republicans. Who can blame them?

The Republicans are having a hard time pulling a sound track together for the campaign. Jackson Browne actually sued, Van Halen threatened to sue, and Heart told them to cease and desist. Why not stick with their base and just play some Toby Keith?

according to Ann Wilson, lead singer and writer for Heart, the song was in response how she and her sister felt about being used by the male dominated music industry who demanded "skin over substance".
Seems like team McCain hit the nail on the head with this selection.
Perhaps now McCain should be playing "Loser" by Beck.

Maybe the Democratics song should be "I don't wanna work I just wanna bang on my drum all day". That's what I aspire to do and I deserve to have the govment take care of everything else for me. The world would be wonderful and we'd all feel good. Especially me!

The GOP, as I understand it, can legally use the song provided they pay royalties. Members of Heart have said that they will donate the royalty proceeds to the Obama campaign. Fair enough.

Gotta dig Heart's chutzpah.

A better theme song for Sarah Palin would be the one about 'when Quinn the Eskimo gets here, and everybody wanting a dose.'
