Madeleine Albright, the first female U.S. Secretary of State, addressed South Carolina's delegates on the first day of the Democratic National Convention in Denver.
During the breakfast meeting, Albright, who grew up in Denver and served during the Clinton administration, discussed major issues the next president must tackle including fighting terrorism without creating more terrorists, halting the proliferation of nuclear weapons and solving the country's energy crisis.
Albright urged delegates to show support for the Democratic presidential team of U.S. Sens. Barack Obama of Illinois and Joe Biden of Delaware.
"We have fabulous candidates. We have wind in our sails," she said. "We have to win this one. We cannot afford to lose."
