Clyburn to lead Dems' Katrina anniversary trip
House Majority Whip James Clyburn, D-SC, will lead the congressional Democratic leadership to New Orleans on a trip to mark the third anniversary of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
Clyburn, who has made a priority of helping the hurricane ravaged Gulf Coast, will lead the trip for the third straight year.
Meetings in Louisiana and Mississippi will focus on progress the area has made in rebuilding its housing and infrastructure and problems that persist in providing education, health care and public safety.
The meetings run from July 19-22.

Why would Reb. Clyburn want to come to Detroit, Michigan to help re-elect Carolyn Cheeks-Kilpatrick? Currently the USA FBI is all over the crooked Kilpatrick family and we here in Michigan cannot understand his backing this woman for re-election. You can read all about the Kilpatrick corruption in our Detroit Freepress at freep.com

As a fan of Mr. Clyburn, I must confess that I seriously question the wisdom of him going to Detroit to help re-elect the mother of Kwame Kilpatrick. The Kwame Kilpatrick story is a national joke, and his mother is all over You Tube as a joke also. Why would Mr. Clyburn soil his good name by endorsing a woman who says Detroiters should spend every dime to defend her son-but her own son is not spending his own money to defend himself????
Detroit needs help-Ms. Cheeks Kilpatrick does NOT.

Everyone needs to remember that Clyburn was a nobody until he got "handout" state job at the Human Affairs Commission. He went in with a lot of bad baggage in that he had no executive experience. As for his election to the Congress, he is the ONLY member of the state's legislative delegation that is elected in a district where the majority of voters are non-taxpayers.

Who is paying for this trip? And if it is South Carolinas tax money. You don't need to go. I am sure someone could use that money for electricity, food, gas. I feel sorry for those that were affected by that hurricane., but i feel more sorry for the people of SC that are in need of assistance..and who else is going, I am sure one of Clyburns cronies will tag along, but for what.

The people in New Orleans are still whining while others in a Hiroshima looking Mississippi are moving own with their lives and rebuilding. Contrast what happened when the floods hit New Orleans with the floods in Iowa. There was no looting, killing, renegade cops etc. After the flood waters receded, people cleaned up and went back to work.
People like Clyburn are going to play the race card to the utmost in order to line up the government plantation blacks for Obama and try to make Bush out to be racist. Bush can't help that they had an idiot black mayor and an even bigger idiot woman governor who did not have the common sense to crank up the thousands of school busses available to evacuate the people.
