Sanford: Immigration bill falls short
Gov. Mark Sanford said again today the illegal immigration bills being negotiated between the S.C. House and Senate do not go far enough.
Sanford said, in a statement released by his office, the bills should mandate employers invest in an e-verify system that will allow them to check the immigration status of employers.
"While I'd give the House and Senate - and in particular Senator Ritchie - credit for moving toward the idea of some form of worker verification, we believe that the bills are missing a critical piece without the e-verify system," Sanford said.
"In talking to folks around South Carolina, what I keep hearing is that unless businesses verify the citizenship of their workers, we don't have true immigration reform. We believe if we had a law that contained the e-verify requirement, rather than the I-9 option, it would have a greater impact on illegal immigration in our state than the rest of this bill combined. I'd respectfully ask that the conferees revisit this idea."

they wont do anything this is all just talk. Until its done I refuse to trust these folks. By the way if you are an elected official and you think you are not part of the problem you are. You all are. Get it done

The special interest lobby will go to any length to pressure Gov. Mark Sanford to recind any laws that enforces state immigration laws. The special interest groups have all the money that is funded by unaware taxpayers. This includesMEChA and La Raza (The Race) that openly advocate creating an apartheid style Hispanic only nation of Aztlan in what is the American South West. Separatist racist groups including La Raza, MEChA, LULAC, MALDEF, CHIRLA, La Voz de Atzlan, Zapatista Army of National Liberation and Mexicanos Sin Fronteras (Mexicans Without Borders). Not to forget the corporate machine, big religion, the ACLU, Southern Poverty league and even the US Chamber of Commerce. Many of these organizations are run by Marxist, Communist and just pure Anti-American zealots. Entities like the Ford Foundation supports these pure anti-sovereignty coalitions.
We are receiving pure propaganda, spin or rhetoric of from the pro-illegal immigrant zealots. Read the forums, bulletin boards and comments? You will quickly learn that predator employers are hiring illegal immigrants, because its cheaper and they don't have to pay out of their profits. Not only are illegals stealing African-Americans jobs, but all of our citizens. They are taking the jobs of a wide spectrum of American workers, with no consequences. That is why we must enact the Federal SAVE ACT and stop this travesty of our immigration laws. Democrat lawmakers are the real culprits, because their holding back their vote in Congress. They know that the new president will sign into law a massive AMNESTY, giving the 12 to 20 million illegal immigrants a path to citizenship.
California as an example is in a real chaos, concerning it's pandering to the special interest lobby. Assemblywoman Mimi Walters, a Republican from Oceanside, said illegal immigrants are costing California taxpayers an estimated $9 billion dollars each year. The governor has ordered the release of 22.000 inmates, who are considered low-risk; low danger to the public. READ AND YOU DECIDE FOR YOURSELF? NUMBERSUSA! AMERICAN PATROL! VDARE! FAIRUS! UNIPAC!
America cannot afford to enact another AMNESTY? The ramifications are unthinkable on each states economy? Taxpayers will have to support even more illegal immigrants as the word gets out and millions more will pour into our nation.
Keep calling your Congressmen today to co-author THE SAVE ACT! Toll free numbers include 18778516437 and 18662200044, or call toll 12022243121 AND REGISTER YOUR OUTRAGE at ongoing efforts to keep our country from enforcing its immigration laws!

Ritchie got all his immigration "facts" from FAIR, which is a racist organization and a hate group, why is the local media not saying anything about this?
I'm pretty sure FAIR and its partner NumbersUSA must be giving him a lot of money to push for this racist bill.
oh and Brittanicus you've been reading too much worldnetdaily and watching too much Lou Dobbs.

No Alex. Ritchie and a committe consisting of Democrats and Republicans held six major hearings. Three were held in Columbia in 2006 and three were held around the state.
The Southern Poverty Law Center makes money out of randomly assigning the racist label to organizations like the Boys Scouts of America. If you look close at its director, Morris Dees, you would think twice about relying on them for anything.
FAIR US and NumbersUSA do not give money to anyone. They provide informationa and legal guidance, based on the rule of law, something with which you appear to have problems.
Don't rush to use the race card. Many of us Americans of Spanish Heritage agree with the rule and don't want people who don't belong here to stay. Besides, illegals come in all shades of pale, if you will. And they come from Ireland, Russia, Middle East, and just about every country. Study the facts, you might learn something about some of the severe negative consequences of illegal immigration.

I am tired of our congressmen taking this illegal immigration issue in circles. We need to do something now. The down fall of our economy is caused by illegals coming into our country and sucking up our social service benefits, taking our jobs, and pleading ignorance so they can get past our laws. If someone is going to come into this country to make a better life come in here like you are supposed to. I am not racist by saying this, but this is a fact. I've seen immigrants come in here legally with visas and what not and then end up getting departed, especially those from Europe, Africa, and Asia. But when it comes to illegal immigrants it seems like we're sending the message, "Come on in. You won't get in trouble." I don't think it's fair. If we don't do something now federally and state wise, we are going to be in a heap of trouble. I've heard comments from some illegal immigrants that they do not want to become citzens of the US, because they would be considered illegal in Mexico or other Latino countries. It seems like they do not want to contribute to our economy. They need to pay taxes too if they are going to live here for a long period of time. It shouldn't be a burden for US citzens to pay for them to live freely here. And as I said earlier I am not racist, I am just a concerned citzen.

"Business of America is America. Americanism" A quote from our past president, John Calvin Coolidge. It seems to me that our government: state and federal are afraid of these words. If not, then they would truely be putting there foot down to this major crisis that we are having. We are supposed to teach our children to stand up for what they believe in and be strong and stand firm on their feet for what right and fix it. Wake up America! Can't you see what is happening here? Our country will be overtaken. Our environment will be depleted. While Mexico and surrounding countries will be standing empty because all will be HERE! How can we continue to let illegal immigrants treat our state like a fun park? How can you come into our country illegally and then obtain your green cards? Why isn't someone investigating this? How can our government keep making excuses for not passing an immigration bill? It's like they are tossing it to us like it's a sunday meal and continue to think that we're going to eat it?
Illegals think they can get passed our laws by pleading ignorance. How can they help us keep our country strong when they can't stand up for their own country? Is running away from their country solving the problem? This country was built with black hands, white hands, and native american indian's hands and a whole lot of blood, a whole lot of sweat, and a whole lot of tears. I do not want to see a North America Union form. We have another war zone and it's in America. It's on our borders with drug trafficking, sex trade, gangs from other countries. Wake Up, WAKE UP! We need to face the problem and fix it.

If they are not going to pass an Immigration Reform Bill in South Carolina, could they please at least pass a law prohibiting toilet paper burning or bagging up toilet paper by illegal immigrants. Is that asking too much from our State? Also is any one aware that they also fry their food and they dispose of the greece into the septic tanks? Try experiencing coming home on a lovely sunday afternoon from being at church and only to have your neighbors who are illegal immigrants burning their toilet paper in a metal barrel. Try coming home from work during the week when everyday they are burning it. Boy I would love to smell fresh country air...instead of.. you know !
