SC in one of only four states that does not currently allow for education garnishment. In 2007, the total outstanding education loans in default to SC colleges totaled $8,969,843.00. NO WONDER tuition is rising every year. This legislation would have helped offset the increase in tuition as well as the budget cuts at SC colleges and Universtities. By letting these loans continue to go unpaid-we are hindering future students from getting the financial aide they need!!! Once again,
our Legislators were mislead by erronous information from outside groups who do not care that THIS IS COSTING OUR TAXPAYERS!!!!

To the previous poster: You are a total jerk. No other loans are treated like student loans. There is no forgiveness no matter what the circumstances. It is like borrowing money from the mob. You want to drop the price of tuition? Ban student loans and see what happens to prices.
