Immigration squabbling continues

The House and Senate have continued their squabbling over passing stricter state requirements against hiring illegal aliens.
While there are disagreements over the bills, the main dispute has been parliamentary procedure.

The bill requires "free conference" powers to reach a compromise, allowing negotiators leeway to script a new version in conference committee. Free conference requires a two-thirds majority, a hurdle neither house might be able to clear.

On Sen. Glenn McConnell's weekly ETV press conference, McConnell and Sen. Jim Ritchie, R-Spartanburg, continued their assault on the House for holding up the bill. Likewise in the House, Rep. Jim Harrison said the Senate had failed to pass previous proposals and had unfairly crticized the House.

Our elected representatives at Gervais and Assembly have lacked the courage since the beginning of this issue to pass a bill that protects the citizens of this state from the cost of illegals.

Because of their lack of courage, South Carolina has become a sanctuary state. They have allowed the SC Chamber of Commerce and business interests to dictate to them not to utilize E-verify to check the immigration status of applicants and to continue to insure low wages. The fix was in from the start.

North Carolina and Georgia have passed anti-illegal laws that have caused the illegals from those two states to cross over to our state. This has pushed the population of illegals in our state to as many as 400,000.

North Carolina just appropriated $750,000.00 to train local law enforcement to participate in the 287g) program which allows them to work with ICE to apprehend and detail illegals.

The sheriff of York County is the only elected law enforcement office holder to work with the 287(g)program. I believe that he has apprehended over 100 illegals in his county. Beaufort County also has passed laws to penalize a business that hires illegals.

Georgia is debating the passage of additional laws that would allow law enforcement to confiscate vehicles driven by illegals.

It was estimated that in 2007 the cost of illegal immigrates in our state was $187,000,000.00 That cost will rise to an estimated $334,000,000.00 in 2010 and $620,000,000.00 in 2020. Does that make 2030 over one billion dollars? Or by then will they have become legal with amnesty being given?

Not only have our neighboring states passed very stringent laws but Arizona, Oklahoma, Florida, and Rhode Island's governor did an executive order to restrict illegals.

The best advice that I can give the citizens is to become educated on this subject. I have seen film on Youtube from California concerning protests by those wanting to amnesty for illegals, it looked like it was from some third world country. Everyone with bandanas.
Google California newspapers, select San Diego, select news, and then select Mexico. What you will find is not good news. That is what is coming across the border.

This issue is about saving our country. We must have a controlled immigration policy.

Just another typical infantile skirmish by our elected officials! What does it matter to the citizens whether or not the senate said something that was critical of the house or vice versa? NOT A DA*N THING! After decades of this type foolishness, it is time to elect representatives and senator who will do the work of the people! When they voted down the elimination of property taxes, and reduction or elimination of income taxes, they had the unmitigated gall to say that those actions were a victory for the taxpayers of SC! What a line of political crap!
Illegals are not immigrants! PERIOD! They are criminals who are attacking our state and country, breaking our laws and depleting our economic, healthcare and education resources! THEY NEED TO BE ARRESTED, PROSECUTED and DETAINED UNTIL DEPORTED WITH NO DELAY! If Mexico, or any other country objects or protests, screw them, cut off all US give aways to them and let them try to survive on their own! Send all 12 million, or is it 20 million, maybe 50 million, back now! Children born here to parents who are here legally maintain their grant of citizenship! Those born here to illegals DO NOT QUALIFY UNDER THE TERMS OF THAT RULE AND THEIR CHILDREN SHALL NOT BE GRANTED US CITIZENSHIP!!! In short, SEND THEM ALL BACK, NOW!!!! Any business or househol who knowingly hire illegals must be penalized with a fine high enough to make it unwise to do so! Employer businesses who hire many illegals must be under a penalty of high fines, maybe high enough to drive them out of business, and prison for officers and human resource officials who hire the illegals! SAME RULES FOR CITY, COUNTY AND STATE AGENCIES AND THEIR OFFICIALS!!!!!
IN SHORT, ARREST, DETAIN, IMPRISON AND DEPORT ALL ILLEGALS INCLUDING THEIR CHILDREN WHETHER BORN HERE OR NOT!!!

Zeke, your tinfoil hat just came off.

Yeah, who needs more illiterate idiots in this country when Zeke shows that we have plenty already.

haven't the people in Columbia heard the cry's of the SC citizens, a strong illegal immigration bill that punishes employers who hire them is wanted and needed by the vast majority of us, take away the jobs and all the incentives from the Gov't that bring them here and they will exit on their own, it is time to act, why don't some of you ride over to Saluda and see how they are poisoning that city and so many more, its time for SC to once again belong to South Carolina citizens
