House votes to fund presidential primaries

House votes let the State Election Commission run the 2009 presidential primaries, over Gov. Sanford's veto objection. The House-Senate budget included $2.1 million to have the primaries moved from party control as the state becomes a national focal point in the early presidential primaries next year.
