A standing room only crowd greeted presidential candidate Mitt Romney this morning at the Lizard's Thicket on Elmwood Avenue in Columbia.
The former Massachusetts governor and Republican presidential hopeful worked the crowd as servers delivered steaming plates of eggs, grits and cinnamon apples to diners that found themselves surrounded by television cameras and photographers.
Romney is in the state for a two-day swing that began Monday and ends this evening with a reception at the Capital City Club. He's also supposed to meet with Republican lawmakers this morning at the State House.
At the breakfast, S.C. Sen. Ronnie Cromer, R-Newberry, endorsed Romney for president. Cromer introduced Romney at the restaurant.

It was a great event. Gov. Romney spoke for about 15 minutes and greated nearly everyone in the restaurant. Romney spoke on the War on Terror, healthcare, education, jobs, and a vision for America. He is a great candidate and true American leader.

I left the event with the same positive feeling. Gov. Romney did a great job.
