House honors Smith for service

The House honored colleague Rep. James Smith this morning, the Richland County Democrat's last before shipping out to Ft. Benning, Ga. for training with his National Guard unit.

Smith, a 2nd Lieutenant, will complete 5-months of training, including paratrooper training.
"It's the one time I'm at a loss for words," said Smith, who thanked the House for honoring all South Carolinians "not at their jobs but serving far away."
