Starting today

The holidays have got to be over for me.

I have jokingly told folks I took a break from weight loss during the holidays….and kept extending the holidays. But now, the hiatus is over for me. I’m back in gear.

   It’s time. Past time.

Today is the day, no more excuses. I’m not going to skip walking because Christmas wrapping paraphernalia is still blocking the treadmill. Not even waking up with a headache and feeling icky is going to keep me from starting today.

From today forward, I will write down what I eat in my Weight Watchers online log. (I hope I still remember how.)

   I will walk.

And I will be much more selective about what I eat. No matter if we’re at a post-game dinner, if we’re watching NFL playoffs or if I’m cold and tired.

  No more excuses.

I will go to the grocery store and buy fruits and vegetables. I’m even going to make Weight Watchers vegetable soup.

I’m going to weigh in this week to see the damage. I expect it to be extensive. But it going to come off again. With interest.

  Starting today.

Getting back into the swing of things is always a difficult thing. I remember the last Christmas I was seriously doing Weight Watchers, I had the cookies and the pies and I thought it would be truly horrible when I stepped on the scale again. Turned out I had maintained my weight through the holiday. That was a *huge* surprise as I had not given any thoughts to points at all. I guess it was in the back of my head somewhere though.

I have to applaud you for your getting back on the wagon. I'm at the point right now where I know I should, but I'm not motivated to do it yet. I think because I know it means no more afternoon snacks of icecream! The other reason is I'm not sure I can do it with just the online tools this time. I need to be smart about dieting right now because as I have a 4 week old baby and am breastfeeding I have someone other than myself to consider this time. Hopefully I can figure it out soon.

Good luck to you! I'm rooting for you.

Lezlie,

How are you doing? I am hanging in there! My loss has crept up slowly to just under 30 pounds. I've begun exercising on my mornings off - following programs on FitTV.
You can do it! Don't give up, you just get back on track the next meal!

Hi Lezlie!

I was wondering if you have heard of sparkpeople.com? It's a fantastic web-site for people like us trying to lose weight. There is a nutrition tracker there and a weight tracker along with cardio tracker too. There are also lots of 'teams' to join where you can get lots of support anytime you need it. I've been with them for a year now and just got serious this past month. I've lost nearly 10 lbs. so far.

Anyway, some of the members were featured in Woman's World magazine a week or so ago and some other members were featured in People magazine and were also on the Ellen DeGeneres show.

Just thought you'd like to know in case you'd like to check it out.

Linda
