20 Days and Counting
Oh, this is definitely my favorite photo of Sunday's NFL action that ran on the Associated Press wire.
ESPN.com's photo editors thought so too. They used it as the site's lead art Sunday night.
"It's Tampa Calling" was their headline.
You know how many phone companies advertise during NFL games? If McNabb isn't making enough soup money, he's got an instant commercial to the highest telecom bidder on his hands thanks to this stunt.
[] Speaking of phones, while trolling for YouTube Super Bowl clips, I found this snippet from David Letterman's show a few years back. It's Bill Murray phoning CBS President Leslie Moonves to mooch for Super Bowl tickets. Hey, is there anything Bill Murray could ask for from you that you'd say no to?
[] Speaking of advertising, here's an interesting investigation by a San Francisco Chronicle writer on ways that advertisers may be dialing down their Super Bowl ad presence. For example, FedEx is ending a 12-year run of Super Bowl advertising ... though as author George Raine points out, FedEx still found enough change under the cushions of the sofas as corporate headquarters to be the main sponsor for the BCS title game (You know, the one where Florida beat Oklahoma?).
[] So who does Captain Boomerang like in the NFL's Final Four? Hmm, it's Eagles at Cardinals in the early game, then Ravens at Steelers.
As I said previously, a Philly-Pittsburgh Super Bowl might not leave the Keystone State intact. I say a Ravens-Eagles Super Bowl. Ravens had been my pick as Super Bowl champ, but I never anticipated that they'd be facing Donovan McNabb.
Right now, I'm leaving a voice mail for the Super Bowl committee ... get ready for Donovan McNabb as Super Bowl MVP.
[] Has a Super Bowl winner ever had a tie game during a season? Someone look that up for me. I'm sleepy.
