Bobby Cox kicked after he talks the balk
Ah, there goes Bobby Cox again. Getting ejected from Wednesday night's Braves game. It's his major league-leading 137th ejection. Not for this season, but in his career. He's only been ejected twice this season.
But judging from the arm sticking out of the side of the picture, can you guess whose honor Cox was defending? That's right, we've reviewed Tim Hudson's throwing arm tattoo in the debut edition of the Braves Photo Diary 2008.
Here's what AP wrote about the dust-up:
The Padres took a 1-0 lead in the second on a balk call on Hudson that led to Cox's ejection by third-base umpire Wally Bell.
Cox and Hudson argued that Hudson stepped toward home plate on a fake pickoff throw to third with San Diego's Kevin Kouzmanoff on third base. Both Hudson and Cox pointed to the spot on the mound where they said Hudson's foot landed.
Kouzmanoff scored on the balk.
Hudson, still upset after Cox left the field, settled down after Jones visited the mound.
"My emotions, I overdid it out there a little bit," Hudson said. "But you never know if that's going to cost you the ball game or not at that time.
"(Chipper Jones) just told me he needed me to settle down. We needed me to pitch deep in the game. I was probably definitely pushing it. If I were the umpire, I would have tossed me. But they gave me the benefit of the doubt right there and I was able to settle in."
Oh, almost forgot to mention: Atlanta beat San Diego 5-2 for its fifth straight win. And Hudson improved to 5-2. And Chipper Jones went 2-for-4 to improve the league's best batting average to .429. Busy night!
And here's a shot of Matt Diaz sliding home, just to show something a little more athletic than Bobby Cox shuffling back to the showers.

He's no Piniella. You have to throw a base into the outfield.
